My current research is focused on ways of making contemporary technological products easier to use for older (65+) people and the area of research is primarily a combination of visual design, interaction design, and certain aspects of cognitive and social sciences. The overall focus of my research is ageing and independent living. Specifically looking at telemedicine, communication and security.
Current research projects
Adaptable interface framework for intuitively learnable product interfaces
It is challenging to design product interfaces for older people mostly because of their diversity in terms of prior-experience and cognitive abilities. This project investigates an “adaptable interface framework” as strategy to address diversity of older peoples’ capabilities.
AARAM
The primary focus is to make and archive data related to historical architecture and archaeological materials related to the traditional architectural heritage of Southeast and South Asia, which will be accessible to architects, educators and researchers through: Documenting indigenous, Hindu and Buddhist architecture and settlements in formats intelligible to architects, with an emphasis first on physical, annotated, visual documentation and secondly on a digital format. In addition photos and architectural drawings or sketches to explain the built forms, texts such as captions and essays, reports and articles etc. must use clear, accurate architectural terminology. Resource and reference materials to aid the researcher regarding terminology and theoretical approaches related to architecture and the environment in the cultures of Southeast and South Asia.
